My Spring Fever has turned into a prolonged illness. We really haven’t been cooking much of anything new. We’ve gone back to some of our usual suspects and have had them on repeat.
I have been busy finishing up the homeschool year and preparing for the next. It’s a big step from 8th grade middle school to 9th grade high school with lots of new requirements involved. We are following a repeating chronological-based history and literature curriculum and next up is Ancient History and Literature. Lots to plan as Samara really would like to do an in depth study of mythology. Also, they will begin taking classes at a 4-year university come fall, so there’s study and organization skills to teach. You’d think that once the homeschooling year is done it would be done, but it never is.
Philip has been grading and for the first time in 20 years of college teaching (he started when he was a college Senior), he’s done well before grades are due. Yay!
The kids have been vacillating between being mopey and being hyper. They’re mopey because we’re learning about World War II and the Holocaust. They’re hyper because the weather’s great and they’ve been spending hours and hours outside on most days.
I feel our Spring “Illness” is beginning to clear up. A few days of hot, muggy weather is always a good cure.
