Cookbook Club

When Philip was in graduate school, he and I went to a lot of parties. It was kind of the thing to do when you have a horde of aspiring Ph.D. chemists who work 70+ hours a week and get a little break every weekend. One party was food-themed and each guest (or couple in a few cases) was to bring a dish related to a country. We went to an Ethiopian dinner party and for years after, made fun of the injera our friend Lars made. Man, it was bad, but at least he attempted bread.

I recently saw this article about a Cookbook Club. What a great idea! Takes the above idea and gives a good spin on it. Plus, it sells some books, which is always good in the age of the underpaid writer. I don’t know if it could work in a podunk place like where I live, but I would love to get one started.
